Discover how you can build your very own successful superyacht career while traveling the world in luxury and style
At Galileo Maritime Academy we have the industry experience and network connections to be able to provide those looking for adventure and a lucrative career the quickest route into the exciting world of superyachts.
As Galileo crew candidates are highly sought after within the industry, the expectation from our superyacht partners is of a world class standard. To guarantee our partners expectations are met by those we put forward for vacant roles, it is essential to address the requirements of the industry along with the factors that stand before those with applicable experience and/or desire to begin a career as superyacht crew.
Getting Started on a Superyacht Career Path
The prerequisite for working on any maritime vessel over 24 meters begins with the STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) 2010 Course, consisting of 5 separate modules. As our network of industry partner superyachts and recruitment agencies consist exclusively of vessels over 24 metres, it is mandatory to first have this qualification before application.
For those not holding an STCW 2010 certificate already, we at Galileo offer the highest calibre of STCW 2010 training courses available in the world, conducted using state-of-the-art facilities and equipment all accredited by the British Government Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). For those in the maritime industry, the MCA accreditation is the gold standard and the only qualification accepted in all maritime nations.
To further separate your application from the crowd and to ensure that you have the necessary experience when being put forward for your first interview, we strongly recommend enrolling in our Superyacht Career Entry course, giving you the MCA STCW 2010 certification and the opportunity to specialise in one or two of the four entry level proficiencies for career entry positions:
Steward / Stewardess
